Undergrounding & System Hardening
CLIENT: PACIFIC GAS AND ELECTRIC COMPANY (PG&E) | LOCATION: cALIFORNIA
MGE Underground has partnered with PG&E to harden their electrical infrastructure against the threat of wildfires. Experts in undergrounding, our civil and electric crews have been a top contractor in PG&E's 10,000 Mile Undergrounding Program, undergrounding over 100 miles over a 2 1/2 year period.
Undergrounding powerlines, replacing outdated equipment, upgrading transformers, and modernizing systems to improve reliability and aesthetics, were all part of the system hardening efforts. Beyond resilience, these projects bring added value to the communities through improved streetscapes and the creation of well-paying jobs.
What sets MGE apart is our people-first approach. We actively engage with the public, respond quickly to concerns, and customize our work plans to minimize community impact. Our crews bring years of experience, are adaptable, and forward-thinking—bringing innovations like horizontal directional drilling, customer reamers, Volumetric trucks, and rock trenchers, with features specifically designed to tackle the toughest environment.
From rocky terrain to busy highway corridors, we engineer safety controls into every job.
Whether it's solving geotechnical challenges, introducing new and innovative techniques to our partners, or managing projects from start to finish, MGE delivers value, reliability, and results.
